The team from Zeera got to share the stage with top politicians, TV stars and industry movers and shakers at the 10th British Curry Awards in London.
While the team missed out on a top industry ‘gong’ they did receive a top commendation and carried home a souvenir finalist’s certificate etched in metal and framed.
Before the awards were handed out the 1,800 strong crowd were addressed by Home Secretary Theresa May who was the guest of honour.
Afterwards the awards were handed out by a roll call of celebrities, politicians and journalists including BBC war reporter Rageh Omar, Channel 4 news presenter Krishnan GuruMurthy, Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati, Government minister Chris Grayling, comedian and presenter Hardeep Singh Kohli and former England goalkeeper David Seaman.
The Zeera team, led by brothers Shahanoor and Kohinoor Choudhury, took a table at the glittering ceremony which was held at the Battersea Evolution event venue in the centre of Battersea Park. As well as taking part in the awards ceremony they enjoyed a curry banquet and top entertainment from the huge stage.
Shahinoor Choudhury said: “Wow! What an experience. After all the hard work we have put in it was amazing to see our name up in lights on a massive stage surrounded by stars and industry big hitters.”
On 22nd August 2016, Zeera reached another milestone after we were named North East Restaurant of the Year in the national English Curry Awards.
Zeera came runner up in the awards which was launched by the Evening Chronicle to find the best entertainment destinations in the North East.
